Turkey Word Work

As Thanksgiving is coming up, how are you ever going to incorporate Thanksgiving AND learning. Simple. Here is a fun, crafty project to do with your kids, here's the best part - they will learn too!
This project incoropates short vowel learning, however you can change it based on you lesson for the time. Make it your own!

Each students will recieve a turkey, and assign the turkey with different word families. Ex. -ap, -og, -ake, -at, -all, -en - The links also already has the words on them. Then give them six feathers. They can cut, color, and glue their feathers on, color the turkey however they seem fit.

When I use this in my classroom, I will assign kids into groups, so they can get help from students, but also teach the other kids about their word family. Each kid must think of six words in respect to their family. If they need help, make sure they know they can ask their group.

At the end, gather the kids into their group, and have the kids go around and teach their peers about their words and other ideas maybe the group has.

Any other questions, just leave a comment :)
